Help us provide the comfort of clean clothes to women and children who are living in shelters. Clean clothes help promote health and wellness but also boost confidence and self-esteem.
Please consider writing letters or making cards to send to a senior living center or a veteran center of your choice.
Collect holiday wrapping paper, tape, ribbons, and bows to help create beautifully wrapped gifts for our Home Visiting partners.
Going out for a walk or jog? Become a "plogger" and pick up trash as you go! Or meet a few friends and neighbors with your own garbage bags and gloves and pick up litter and trash while safely distancing yourself from others.
United Way of Lake County Better Together Program is seeking diaper donations. Diapers will be distributed to local families in need. Please help fill this critical need by donating diapers or Pull-Ups, sizes 4-6.
Health and Hygiene items are a high need year-round for many individuals across Lake County, especially with the current decrease in income security. You can collect and pack the following items in kits: soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, and washcloths. Items can be packed in a clear Ziploc bag or clear water bottle, to which you can add a note of encouragement.
Everyone loves to color! Coloring is a fun and expressive way for kids and families to stay busy and connected while practicing social distancing. Help collect coloring books, colored paper, crayons, markers, even watercolor paints to provide a creative outlet for our community children. Please collect items to create 4 kits. Put your items in a gift bag or a decorated paper bag.
Gather up your card stock, markers, stickers, and any other fun crafting items and write some words of encouragement with some decorations on a bookmark for kids to come back to when they save their place in a book.
Back to school this year is so different from past years. Most Return to Learn plans have students learning remotely or in a hybrid model. They are in critical need of basic school supplies. Please help us ensure that our children have the essential tools to complete their assignments from home. You can help us collect wide ruled composition books, wide ruled notebooks, #2 pencils, sharpeners, crayons, erasers, folders, and blunt tip scissors. We will distribute these supplies to local school districts to keep learners active with school.
No one should go without warm, dry socks. Too often, those experiencing home displacement find themselves in need of these essential items. Please help us collect new socks of various children and adult (women/men) sizes.
Food insecurity is a critical issue that many of our Lake County families face. Help feed those families by filling 2 or more paper grocery bags with non-perishable items.
To help us combat summer learning loss, you can make flashcards for elementary students simply by using index cards! We encourage you to make a deck of 25 bilingual flashcards based on either reading or math.
COOL Food Pantry is in high need of reusable grocery bags, which is how vets receive monthly essentials. You can help by gathering these reusable grocery bags, so that vets can properly receive and transport their essentials easily.
You can assemble nutritious Power Packs in a quart-size plastic bag to keep children alert and healthy! You can make 6 packs of more and write a note of encouragement for each pack.
Help children prepare for the cold winter months. Many families need help with providing warm winter clothes for their children. You can help by collecting coats, hats, scarves, boots, and socks.
Paper goods are a high need year-round for many individuals across Lake County, especially for those who face housing insecurities. You can help by collecting paper towels, toilet paper, facial tissues, and paper plates. You can also add a note of encouragement to express support.
